When leaders lead poorly, people suffer.

«When leaders lead well, people thrive; when leaders lead poorly, people suffer.

When leaders lead well, people thrive; when leaders perform poorly, people suffer. Undoubtedly, we find ourselves standing at a crossroads, a profound juncture in our world today. When we look at our planet, we see chaos spreading across its vast expanse. The wars in Ukraine and Israel capture the world’s attention, but turmoil extends its reach to countless corners where humanity suffers deeply. Whether we turn our gaze toward the Arab world, India, Africa, South America, the USA, China, or Europe, it becomes evident that many of our prevailing challenges trace back to the absence of effective leadership.

A good leader is a source of inspiration, not deception or exploitation. A good leader vehemently opposes wrongdoing, consistently embodies fairness, and diligently strives to cultivate a robust moral core within their own heart. These principles resonate with ancient wisdom, echoing the words of King Solomon, inscribed in Proverbs 16:10-15 over 2800 years ago. Astonishingly, the essence of leadership remains unaltered through the ages:

  • When leaders fulfill their role with grace and vision, they breathe life into the hearts of many.
  • Good leaders motivate; they don’t mislead or exploit.
  • Good leaders abhor wrongdoing of all kinds; sound leadership has a moral foundation.
  • Good leaders cultivate honest speech and value advisors who tell them the truth.
  • A good leader does not wreak havoc in lives; you’re wise to stay clear of someone like that.
  • Good-tempered leaders invigorate lives; they’re like spring rain and sunshine.

So, how do we recognize good leaders? The journey begins here, with each of us: Strive to become the good leader you’ve always yearned for, regardless of the scale of your influence – be it within your family, your profession, while nurturing your children, or in the realm of politics. Be the beacon of leadership you’ve longed to follow. As you radiate your leadership in the roles entrusted to you, you’ll infuse warmth and optimism into the hearts of those around you. Shine on, and be the light in the places you’re sent to.

Remember, your life holds a unique purpose, one only you can fulfill. Instead of seeking exceptional leadership in others, embark on the quest within yourself. Be the embodiment of the leader you seek, and in doing so, you’ll discover the profound sunshine within your own heart. As the sun rises daily within, the climate around you shall change, guided by your purposeful leadership.
